On March 1, 2022, the Association “Memory and Dialogue. Common History” and Municipal Public Library in Brzesko announced a photo competition “Traces of memory”. The project was inspired by Daniel Nalepka.
The goal of the competition is to find the most interesting photos showing the material traces of the presence of the Jewish community in Brzesko. These can be photos of the new Jewish cemetery at Czarnowiejska street, traces of the old cemetery at Głowackiego street, as well as buildings where Jews used to live or where Jewish organizations were located.
Competition lasts from March 1, 2022 to July 31, 2022.
Photos can be submitted by high school students and adults, especially enthusiasts of local history and photography; professional photographers cannot participate in the competition.
Submitted photos will be assessed in two categories:
- high school youth,
- adult participants of the competition
Results of the competition will be announced by August 15, 2022.
Winners of the first place in each category will receive a reward of PLN 500. In addition, the best photos will be presented at the exhibition, which will be opened on September 10, 2022 at the Municipal Public Library in Brzesko during the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liquidation of the Brzesko ghetto.
Submitted photos will be assessed by the Committee, which will include, among others: journalist Marek Kołdras and photojournalists Krzysztof Wasyłek and Bogusław Hajduk.
