Litwin family

Abraham Chaim Litwin was born in Hornistopol, Ukraine, in 1885 to Zvi Benjamin and Braina. He moved to Poland and got married to Ruchla Roselpacht, daughter of Jakob Majer and Marjem Roselpacht from Brzesko. Abraham Chaim was a shoemaker. They lived in Brzesko, had 9 children (two of them died as babies):

– Benjamin Hirsch, born 1906
– Mojzesz, born 1908
– Rachela Lea, born 1910
– Ester, born 1911
– Leib, born 1912
– Hudes, born 1914
– Leser Lipa, born and died 1916
– Chiel. born and died 1918
– Marjem Liebe, born 1920

 Their eldest son Hersch got married in Brzesko on August 27. 1937, to Sara Bodenstein.
Ian Burlikowski in his “Chronicles of the City of Brzesko  provides the “List of Jewish citizens of Brzesko who lost their lives together with their families in years 1939-1945”,which mentions shoemaker A.Litwin under # 176.

This entire family was murdered in the Holocaust. The only person who’s kept the memory of the Litwins is Sidney Lawrence, nephew of Abraham Chaim, whose father emigrated to England before the war and due to that survived. 87-year-old Sidney lives now in Israel together with his daughter and grandchildren
